This was a proposal for a new township for the south south-east of Bangalore. It was based on a public/private partnership arrangement with the housing authority in order to provide social housing as part of a comprehensive development.
Our approach was based on respect for topography, extensive landscaping, integrated traffic planning, modern unobtrusive utilities and international planning norms. We prepared an overall site master plan supported by detailed studies for housing clusters and types.
Our layouts featured houses and buildings in small groups around short lengths of road laid out to exploit picturesque effects while avoiding large-scale axial planning and symmetry. The township roads formed loops incorporating safety features to enforce low traffic speeds.
We provided house designs to international standards featuring efficient floor plans, wide verandas, decorative timber features, rendered painted blockwork and red pantile roofs echoing traditional local designs.
